Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is TPQ?
A: TPQ is an abbreviation for Total Production Quota, which is allotted to producers on an annual basis. TPQ is expressed in kilograms of butterfat. Given a standard butterfat test of 3.6 kilograms per hectolitre, a cow that produces 10,000 litres of milk per year would require 360 kilograms of TPQ. Thus a farm with 100 cows would require 36,000 kilograms of TPQ.

Q: What is a dairy year?
A: A dairy year is the fiscal period from August 1st of one calendar year to July 31st of the next calendar year.
